Accessory Buildings/Storage Sheds
(20.35) Accessory buildings used for housing of lawn and garden equipment, tools, or storage of other miscellaneous personal property not for hire is allowed. There are specific regulations for size, use and placement.
Animals and Pets
(Chapter 55) No more than three domestic animals such as dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, ferrets, and pot bellied pigs may be kept, provided no more than three are kept on any one property. (Ordinance No. 95-149).
(Chapter 55.01 and 55.06) It is unlawful for any owner to allow an animal to run at large, (off the premises of the owner and not under the control of a competent person) within the corporate limits of the Town.
Current rabies vaccinations are required by County ordinance.
Fences
(Article III: Section 35.05) A building permit must be obtained before any fence may be constructed or erected on any property.

Hunting and Trapping
(Chapter 41.10) It is unlawful for any person to hunt within the Town limits or to use any weapons, including snares, traps, pits or other devices capable of killing an animal.
Junk and Junk Vehicles
(Chapter 51.02 and 51.04) It is unlawful for any person to store, accumulate, or allow to remain on any private property within the corporate limits of the Town any junk or junk vehicle except those stored within a garage or other enclosed structure.
Outdoor Lighting
(Chapter 52.01) All outdoor lighting on private or public property, except as expected shall be installed not to exceed fifteen feet above ground level. In addition, the installed lighting shall be constructed and utilized in such a manner so that the light source is shielded or filtered to prevent direct or reflected light rays from being cast onto neighboring residential property. Be a good neighbor and make sure lights are not directed to another home.
Speed Limits
Speed limits in Riverdale are as posted. The speed limit in all residential areas is 25 miles per hour.

Street Parking
(Chapter 69.05) There is a 72 hour limit on street parking. (Chapter 69.09) No person shall park a motor truck, semi-trailer, or other motor vehicle with trailer attached in violation of the following Regulations. The provisions of this section shall not apply to pickup, light delivery or panel delivery trucks. (Code of Iowa, sec. 321.236 1) City streets excepting only when actually delivering or receiving, All night or parked or unattended for a period of time longer than one hour.
Trim Trees
(Chapter 151.03) The owner or agent of the abutting property shall keep the trees on, or overhanging the street, trimmed so that all branches will be at least 15 feet above the surface of the street and 8 feet above the sidewalks.
